Vino and Verses: September 2

£7.50

Welcome to Vino & Verses, a monthly open mic poetry night curated and hosted by Bethany Callaway.

Join us at Chater’s for an evening of beautiful words paired with delicious wine, cocktails, and aperitivo.

How It Works:

Sign up on the door if you’d like to read; names are pulled at random from the hat throughout the night. Each speaker has up to 5 minutes and is welcome to share their own poetry, read on behalf of someone else, or perform a piece by a poet they love. Of course, you’re equally welcome to sit back, sip, and enjoy the local talent.

Timings:

Doors open: 6pm
Words start: 7pm
Wrap-up: around 9:30pm, with the bar open until 10pm for a final drink and a chance to mingle.

Guest:

Daisy Thurston-Gent is a poet, theatremaker and facilitator from Cambridge. Her work explores themes of collective nostalgia, legacy and grief; queerness and connection; across the mediums of collage, spoken word and sound. Recent projects have included collaborations with IKLECTIK Art Lab, Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge Junction, Cambridge University Library, Cambridge Poetry Festival & Cambridge School of Art and Waterbeach Arts Festival. She is an associate artist with indie publisher Colliding Lines, and her work has been published in their visual anthologies, and elsewhere with Bad Betty Press and Impossible Archetype. Daisy also hosts Word Salad, a cosy open-mic poetry event in Cambridge.

Food & Drink:

A selection of food and drink will be available on the night. Our drinks offering includes a beautifully curated collection of wines, handpicked for the week by Diego Amaro, as well as a selection of in-house cocktails from our distillery, Vault Aperitivo. You can also find a selection of soft drinks for those of you who want to take it a little bit easier.

There will be a selection of bar snacks, and there will be a cicchetti bar available to order from on the night, so come hungry!
